NEW JERSEY YMCA 8 & UNDER CHAMPIONSHIP

 

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2006

Girls Meet Start Time: 9:15 AM

Girls Warm-up: 8:00 – 9:00 AM

Warm-up times, timing and lane assignments will be sent to participating teams.

FACILITY:            12-lane, 25-yard pool with Colorado Timing System. 

The host team reserves the right to use the appropriate amount of lanes to keep the timeline to approx. 3 hours.  (No more then 10 lanes)

                                Swimmers will be marshaled from our 6 lane pool, adjacent to the competition pool.

ENTRIES:             Swimmers may swim in (3) three individual events and (2) two relays.  Teams may enter as many relays as they have swimmers.

 

AWARDS:            Medals will be given for the top (8) eight in each individual and relay events.  Ribbons will be given for 9th through 16th place in both individual and relay events.  Coaches may pick up their team’s awards at the end of the meet.

 

ELIGIBILITY:     

·         The swimmer must have been a current member of his/her YMCA in good standing for at least 90 days prior to the date of this championship and entitled to full privilege membership activities.

  • The swimmer must be an amateur and must not have represented another YMCA or another swimming organization in open or closed competition since September 1, 2005.
  • The swimmer must have represented his/her YMCA in closed competition on at least three occasions on separate days during the four (4) month period prior to February 5, 2006.
  • Participation is determined by the swimmer’s age as of December 1, 2005.
  • It shall be the responsibility of the Coach and CEO/Executive Director of each YMCA to assure that their swimmers meet these eligibility requirements.

 

ENTRY FEES:      $3.50 per individual event and $14.00 per relay.

 

DECK PASSES: Only swimmers, Coaches, Officials, Timers, and Team Marshals will be allowed on the deck.

 

Coaches:  must show their YMCA Coaches Deck Pass to gain access to the deck and pick up their Meet Packet.  Coaches must display their YMCA Deck Pass at all times while on the deck.

 

Team Marshals:  Each team is required to supply one Marshall for every 10 swimmers entered per session.  Marshall’s names and contact numbers must be listed on the Entry Recap Page.  Team Marshals shall check in at the Officials Check in Table to receive their deck pass.

 

Officials:  Each team is requested to supply a minimum of two Certified YMCA Officials per session if possible.  Official’s names and contact phone numbers must be listed on the Entry Recap Page which will be forwarded to the Meet Referee.  Officials whose names have been submitted are expected to report to the Meet Referee upon arrival and then will be given their assignments.  Officials shall check in at the Officials Table to gain entry onto the deck.

 

Timers:  Depending on the number of entries per team, the Host Team will send each team their Timing and Lane assignment(s) prior to the meet.  Teams are required to fulfill their designated timing assignment or risk disqualification of their swimmers.  The meet will not start until all timers have reported to their lane.  Teams may opt to switch timers during the session, but may not opt to vacate their timing assignment prior to the completion of the session.  Timers must report to the Head Timer to gain access to the Deck.

 

SPECTATORS: For safety reasons, no parents/spectators will be allowed onto the deck.  All parents/spectators

are to sit in the upstairs bleachers.  No coolers, strollers, folding chairs, glass bottles are permitted in the spectator area.

DIRECTIONS:     FROM THE NORTH:   Take Garden State Parkway Exit 88 to Route 70 West. Take Route 70 West to New Hampshire Avenue South. (To make left turn you must use jug handle to right). Continue 2 ½ miles on New Hampshire. Make right turn at traffic light onto West Whitty Road (just before the Garden State Parkway Overpass). The "Y" will be on the right just past the cemetery.

FROM THE SOUTH:   Take Garden State Parkway Exit 83 (You will be on Route 9 North). Continue North, West Whitty Road will be the second traffic light. Turn right onto West Whitty Road and the "Y" will be a quarter mile further on the left.

FROM THE EAST:   Take Route 37 West to Route 166 North. At the Garden State Parkway Overpass, Route 166 will change to Route 9. Continue North, West Whitty Road will be the second traffic light. Turn right onto West Whitty Road and the "Y" will be a quarter mile further on the left.

FROM THE WEST:   Take Route 70 East to Route 571 East. (Right Turn onto Route 571). At the Route 9 intersection make left turn to Route 9, West Whitty Road will be the second traffic light. Turn right onto West Whitty Road and the "Y" will be a quarter mile further on the left.

The Sport Spot. will be at the meet, selling practice suits, goggles, shampoo, etc.

 

Special Championship T-Shirts will also be available for purchase.
