Medley and furnish their own timer and counter for the 500 yd. Freestyle.  These events will be run fastest to slowest alternating girls and boys.  Heats will be combined if possible. These events will be scored and awards presented for both the 9 year olds and the 10 year old.

ELIGIBILITY:    Swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming. Age for the meet will be determined by the swimmer’s age on February 26, 2005. This meet is only for those swimmers, ages 9 and 10, whom are registered with New Jersey Swimming and whom have not yet achieved a New Jersey ‘GOLD’ Time Standard in the event entered. A swimmer may enter a total of 6 events as follows: no more than 3 events each day, regardless whether the events are in more than one session

RELAYS:          Only swimmers that DO NOT haveGOLD’ times in that stroke and distance can swim on relays.  Any swimmer found to have a gold time in that stroke and distance prior to the meet will be turned over to New Jersey Swimming. (See NJS Verification Form for explanation and fines.)

NEW JERSEY SWIMMING/USA SWIMMING RULES:     This meet will be run under current USA Swimming Rules. All events will be run as timed finals. Meet Director/Meet Referee reserves the right to use “over the head” starts.

ENTRIES:         All Swimmers participating in the 500 Free (Session #5 on Day 2) must provide their own timers and counters. All entries must have a seed time (NT will not be accepted).

ENTRY FEES:   Individual entry is $4.00. Relay entry is $8.00.

CLARIFICATION OF ENTRY QUALIFYING TIMES:

·         Individual Events – NJS follows the rules set forth in the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations regarding how a swimmer’s age is determined for competition in a specific meet with one exception as follows:

·         If a swimmer has a JO qualifying time for a given age group, stroke and distance and

·         The swimmer’s birthday falls so that he or she moves to a new age group after the start of the Silver Championship meet so the swimmer would have to swim in the new age group at JO’s and

·         The swimmer’s fastest time for that event does not meet the entry time for the new age group at JO’s

·         Then the swimmer may enter that event in the new age group at JO’s

·         The above also applies to a swimmer with a Silver time and then “ages up” between the Bronze Championship meet and the Silver Championship meet as well as between the 9-10 Championship and JO’s.  The swimmer should be entered at the faster meet’s event cut time to allow for automatic seeding of the event.

·         Relay Events – In order to swim in a relay designated as a Silver event, no swimmer on that relay may have a Gold time in the stroke and distance that the swimmer will swim in that relay.  Likewise, in order to swim in a relay designated as a Bronze event, no swimmer on that relay may have a Silver time in the stroke and distance that the swimmer will swim in that relay.  For example, a swimmer with a gold time in the 50 free cannot swim the freestyle leg of a 200 medley relay.

·         If a team doesn't have enough eligible swimmers to complete a relay, then that relay must be scratched and may not be swum with an ineligible swimmer.

JUNIOR OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS:  Swimmers that achieve a New Jersey Junior Olympic time at this meet can swim that event at the New Jersey Junior Olympics. These entries are due to March 8, 2005.

WARM-UP PROCEDURES:        Warm-up starting times will be determined once entries are received.   Sessions #1, #3, #4 & #6, there will be split warm-ups, with teams being notified via e-mail and posted on the web sites a minimal 72 hours prior to the meet. Information will include teams warm-up times and lane assignments.  For Sessions #2 & #5, there will be a 30 minute general warm-up. Warm-ups will be conducted as per NJ Swimming Warm-up and Safety Guidelines.  Warm-ups will include general warm-up and sprint lanes.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES:  All teams must check in their swimmers.  Check-in will close 30 minutes before the start of each session. Swimmers not checked-in will be scratched. All coaches are required to be in possession of their USA coaches credentials. Only currently USA Swimming registered coaches will be allowed on deck.

TIMERS:           All teams participating in the Sessions #1, #3, #4 & #6 may need to furnish timers based upon each team’s number of swimmers in that session.  For these sessions, timing assignments will be emailed to participating clubs prior to the meet and will be posted to the web at www.eliteswimclub.org & www.besmarttinc.com.

OFFICIALS:      Participating teams are asked supply as many certified officials for all session. All teams are asked to submit the name of their team's official’s coordinator.

AWARDS:         For individual events, medals will be awarded for top 6 finishers of each division (Silver and Bronze) for each age group in each event with the exception of the 500 Free and 200 IM, where awards will be presented for top 6 finishers in each age group only. For relay events, medals will be awarded for the top 3 relays (no divisions).
