HALLOWEEN SWIM MEET

OCTOBER 31, 2004

 

GENERAL:  The 25th Annual Halloween Invitational pre-season meet will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Somerset Hills YMCA at 140 Mt. Airy Rd. Basking Ridge, N.J. 07920 (Telephone 908/766-7898, Fax 908/766-8288). All competitors will vie for medals/ribbons.  Swimming merchandise will be sold.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION: Entry fees are $3.50 per individual. Swimmers may enter a maximum of 3.  There are NO minimum qualifying times for any of the events.  Entries will be dated and accepted upon order of receipt until the time allotted for the Morning (Warm-up at 7:00AM; Start at 7:55AM) and Afternoon (Warm-up at 1:15PM; Start at 2:00PM) Sessions is consumed. 

 

AWARDS:  Medals will be awarded to 1st through 6th place.  Ribbons will be awarded to 7th through 9th for individual events and to all heat winners.  The team coach (or representative) is to pick up the awards at the end of the Afternoon Session.

 

RULES:  This meet will follow NCAA rules. All events will be timed finals. Age is to be determined by the swimmer’s age as of October 31, 2004.

 

TIMERS:  All swim teams are required to provide a minimum of two timers with watches for both the Morning and Afternoon sessions. The Meet Director will notify each team of their time slots and lane assignments.

 

OFFICIALS:  All Level 2 YMCA certified officials who wish to volunteer to officiate at the Halloween Meet should contact Jeff Moryan, Halloween Meet Director (Office:  973-535-0500).

 

FACILITY:  The Somerset Hills YMCA is a six lane, 25 yard pool with a Colorado Timing System.  Each side of the pool has four rows of wooden seats for spectators.


MARSHALING:  All Swimmers will be marshaled in the YMCA Gym for the MORNING SESSION.  Heat and lane assignments will be posted in the gym for both sessions..  A Marshal Assistant will lead all MORNING SESSION swimmers for an event to the pool area.  Parents are strongly encouraged to remain with their swimmer(s) in the gym while they await their event.  Swimmers and parents should bring a blanket and games, books, etc. to occupy themselves.  BALL PLAYING and FOOD ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE GYM OR POOL AREAS!!!  Because spectator space is limited, swimmers are NOT permitted in the pool unless swimming.

 

REFRESHMENTS: A variety of food, snacks and drinks will be available for sale during both the Morning and Afternoon Sessions.  REFRESHMENTS ARE TO BE CONSUMED WITHIN THE EATING AREA PROVIDED.

 

ADMISSION & PROGRAMS: Spectators will be charged $2.00; children under 8 and meet participants will be admitted free. Psych Sheets for the Morning and Afternoon Sessions will be sold for $2.00 per copy.  If you have questions regarding a swimmer’s status, please notify your coach who should in turn contact the one of the officials in the Aquatic Office prior to the start of the session.

 

DIRECTIONS: The Somerset Hills YMCA is located at 140 Mt. Airy Rd. (Rt. 525) which is south of the I-287 Bernardsville/Basking Ridge exit. Please take I-287 to the Bernardsville/Mt. Airy Rd, northbound Exit 26B, southbound, Exit 26.  Bear right off the exit.  At the fork in the road, bear right.  The Somerset Hills YMCA is ¼ mile on the right.  Parking space is available on the right and left as you enter the YMCA driveway and when full will be limited to swimmer drop off.  Additional parking will be available in a satellite lot at 150/170 Mt. Airy Rd, immediately before the Y on the right.  From the parking lot, follow the marked path, walk by the Y Annex House (blue Cape Code) and across the foot bridge to the Y.  Directional signs will be posted to facilitate parking.
